Who we are…
Stanford History group is an informal gathering of people who meet every spring and autumn to follow their interest in history. Lectures are given by eminent university lecturers from the region and are open to all. We cover a wide and fascinating range of subjects; past programmes have covered european and global history, democracy & politics (including the US Constitution), medicine and Iran. We especially enjoy the opportunity to question the lecturers and develop discussion. Each autumn programme consists of ten weekly lectures and a discussion evening and we meet in Upper Sapey Village Hall, WR6 6EU. Spring programmes are shorter and cover more cultural issues.
SPRING 2026 CULTURAL PROGRAMME – Stanford History Group’s third Spring programme of five consecutive lectures begins on Monday 19 January 2026. We will cover a wide range of topics including music, the arts, travel and scientific/technical subjects. Lectures are delivered by experienced specialists who are keen to share their knowledge and personal experience. Something to look forward to through the long nights of winter…..
